To a Black goddess: poems devoted to Blackness, life and authenticity

[New York]: Self-published by the author, 1977. 57p., 8x8.5 inches, very good self-published first edition poetry chapbook in stapled orange pictorial wraps with sunned spine.

Mr. Hatchett, accused of anti-Semitic and anti-white bias, was fired from New York University after referring to Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey, Richard M. Nixon and Albert Shanker, president of the United Teachers Federation, as “racist bastards” in a speech delivered before a student group in 1968. He wrote several nonfiction books on the Black Experience and MLK before this book of poetry.
