Anna Medora Morrison Reed (1850-1921) was a California poet and lecturer who supported her immediate family with her public appearances. While this book's preface points out her anti-suffrage stance, her obituary notes that she was "a tireless worker for the women's cause." She edited a Petaluma daily paper as well as the monthly magazine The Northern Crown, was a member of the Pacific Coast Women's Press Association, and published several other volumes of poetry, traveling in the circles of Gertrude Athertin and Jaochim Miller.
