San Francisco: NMC, Bay Area Peace Action Council, etc. 1967-1971. Group of 15 documents and stapled packets, mostly 8.5x11 inches, reflecting activities of the New Mobe and the San Francisco-based Bay Area Peace Action Council, some items worn. Also includes a photocopy of a Sidney Peck report.
"Notes on closed NMC 'steering committee' meeting" is a report by a participant at the meeting "phoned in to 2170 Bryant Street" in San Francisco; discusses efforts by Kayo [Terence] Hallinan to limit Trotskyist involvement in the NMC because "they can't get along with anyone." Other minutes from fraction meetings reflect Trotskyist organizing within the broader coalition. Also included are documents related to 1970's Proposition J and 1967's Proposition P, both anti-war ballot initiatives, and most interestingly, a copy of a typed letter datelined 29 August 1971, Prague, from "Barry" (Barry Sheppard?), adressed to "Bink," discussing details of his meetings with Vietnamese representatives about ways to materially aid North Vietnam's economy and to rebuild waning anti-war demonstrations in the US.
