The Telescope, December 1927 A Record of the School Term for the Fall of Nineteen Twenty-Seven at Galileo High School, San Francisco, California

San Francisco: Published by the Newswriting Class, Galileo High School, 1927. Hardcover. 112p., standard hardcover year book format, 11x7.5 inch composite boards titled in aqua litho, numerous autographs. Structurally, a poor copy: Spine is cracked along joints with large chipped losses, textblock is cracked in the middle and mildly loose. No lost leaves. The photographic jokes are of two sorts and unusually clever; find a series of older images which have student faces superimposed, and, even better, six or eight uncredited fullpage portraits of students uniformed or in costume are rendered in hazy Langdon Coburn manner, one of them quite funny and surrealist (p.93); Miss Effie Swain was photography editor and possibly the shutterbug in question. One of many Japanese American students (Eiko Enomoto) has autographed her individual photo.
