Berkeley: SLATE, 1958. Three issues of the newsletter, four pages each, very good. Issues present are vol. 1 nos. 1, 2, and 4.
The first periodical issued by SLATE, the campus activist group that was a precursor to the wild and woolly 1960s at Berkeley. In addition to news about campus politics and an effort by SLATE to have student bookstores raise their buy-back credit and lower book prices, these issues include a guide to fitting in at local coffee shops (starting with perfecting the intonation of "What's happening man" and continuing to the dress code at various establishments - at Il Piccolo you can be nude if you want, as long as you wear sandals).
