Toward an Artists' Federation: First interim progress report [handbill]

[New York]: the Federation, 1970. Single 8.5x11 inch sheet, mimeographed text both sides, mild fold creases else very good condition.

Summary of a meeting held Oct. 1, 1970 at which Marlene Aron, Ilene Astrahan, Benjamin Benno, Ron Bernt, Sidney Cash, Richard Frank, Alex Grose, Paul Margolies, and Nancy Shaffer, at which the formation of a union for artists was discussed. Proposals are divided into three main sections, Social services, code of ethics, and the form and content of the constitution. A few items seem rather "pie-in-the-sky," especially item 2b in the code of ethics: artists should "stop being contemptuous of each other."
