New York: Carleton, Publishers, (late Rudd & Carleton), 1864. x, 264p., wood-engraved cartoons on inserted yellow stock (tissue-guarded in the instance of the frontispiece), title-page rendered as a deliberately clumsy sketch, text followed by 8p. Carleton ads. First edition pebbled green cloth boards; ex libris with ugly spine label, intrusive pocket, free endsheets both roughly out, badly cracked hinges. Several ownership legends are present including "Library of the Walt Disney Studio" rubberstamped in three places. Disney dumped much of its reference holdings in the late 1950s.
