The American Almanac and Repository of Useful Knowledge for the year 1833. Second edition.

Boston / New York / Philadelphia: Published by David H. Williams. New York: Collins, Keese, and Company. Philadelphia: Thomas, Cowperthwait, and Company. 1839. viii, pp.65-312, many tables (shipping tonnages etc) and lists (government offices and the like), and a few diagrams ('how mirages form' being the most nearly pictorial), 7.5x4.6 inch full calf boards with panels, rulings and leather spine label gilt. Fine old marbled endsheets and sprinkled textblock edges; appears to be an original issue of this edition, and in quite good condition. Title page has sufferedf a half-inch closed marginal tear. Hinges are sound, calf slightly abraded, label legible and bright, all of which due, in part, to enclosure in an old clearish plastic dj sleeve that we have chosen not to disturb.

Printer's notice to part I explains the omission of pp.1-64. The disparity that an 1833 compilation is still viably saleable six years later, suggests that the "useful knowledge" herein is timeless.
