Settlers most European (Matson's forebears were Swedish) but there is mention of one Li Foo in the Catholic cemetary, and an anecdote (pp.46/7) about Albert Jeans, "a black single man living in a cabin on a ranch" in the 1920s who shot a bootlegger; Jeans had friends, returned to Greenwood after serving a short sentence.
