Hangzhou: Xinfeng si zhi chang ['New Wind' Silk Factory], [196-?]. 11x16 inch pictorial silk hanging designed for wall display, depicting the famous image by Liu Chunhua of Mao striding through a naturalistic landscape dressed in a long robe. Black and white, title in red at bottom with summary of Mao's 1921 trip, name and location of factory at bottom right. Very good, suitable for display.
The painting upon which this is based was created in 1968 and heavily promoted, with poster versions and badges quickly becoming ubiquitour. This is a nice example of what was once an extremely common wall hanging.
