San Francisco, etc. Bay Area Committee Against the Simpson / Mazzoli Bill; etc. 1982. Lot of 5 leaflets and a newsletter published by opponents of the bill, which called on employers to attest to employee immigration status and made it illegal to knowingly hire unauthorized immigrants. This was the first unsuccessful attempt to pass the bill, which was eventually passed in 1986. Although the bill is remembered now as primarily targeting Mexican immigrants, these materials include much on Philippine-American opposition to its provisions. One flier is represented in both English and Spanish versions.
Includes an issue of Ti progresibo, a Hawaiian newsletter for progressive Filipino Americans, with a cover story on the bill.
