Arizona-born African American educator and poet now living in Long Beach, California. Poem-reflections on slavery, and on growing up in Tucson. Rollins "taught at an off-reservation Navajo school and at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. While there, he also taught at the New Mexico State Penitentiary where a number of his students were killed during the prison riot. Rollins retired as Senior Civil Rights Analyst for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights in Denver, lived for a while in Hawaii, and now resides near the ocean in Long Beach.."
