Spark was to the left of the CPUSA, this first issue includes their declaration "Towards a Marxist party -- a draft transitional program," "Hari Kari on the ninth floor" critical of the CPUSA response to red-baiting and anti-Communist laws, a "Report from Frisco [sic]," and more. --and here we thought that "none dare call it Frisco."
