The improper Bostonian; vol. 1, no. 1, March 1964

Boston: John Raymond and Paul Butler, 1964. 4p. including covers, 9x12 inches, illustrated with two cartoons and a clip-art masthead, light foxing to rear cover.

First issue. Articles include Macnamara's Band Hits Sour Notes (a collection of short takes on various subjects) Vive la Vivisection about dog defecation on Beacon Hill.
This is not the familiar glossy magazine from the 1990s. It was a satirical publication devoted to news and politics of the Beacon Hill section of Boston. According to Raymond's letter of transmittal, "there were only four or five issues before it folded (with a lot of pressure from the Boston cops)." The Boston police and then-chairperson of the Boston School Committee, Louise Day Hicks, were favorite targets of the editors - OCLC where only one copy is found.
