New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1927. Paperback. 348p., very good first US edition with printed bookplate printed on the front pastedown (as issued by Holt), string place-holder, light blue cloth boards, unclipped dj with mild edgewear and a half-inch chip at head of spine just nicking the title. Grier A** (B?).
This dustjacket has the author's photo on rear flap while this bibliographer has seen jackets with a profile drawing of the author. No priority known. Debut novel with a rave from Christopher Morely on rear panel. Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual characters are depicted. The novel caused quite a scandal but then Lehmann was well-connected in the literary world. Lehmann was a member of the Bloomsbury group and an anti-fascist activist.
