Hong Kong: Yazhou chubanshe, 1954. 82p., wraps, rubberstamp of the Asia Press Agency on back cover. Second edition.
The title is difficult to translate; literally it means "The touching-cage people I have seen." "Touching cages" refers to a method of training a young bird to sing by placing its cage next to that of an older bird; Shen is drawing an analogy to intellectuals in China, suggesting that formerly independent thinkers are now all singing the same tune after having been 'broken' by the new communist regime. The cover portrays a bird in a cage.
