The previous owner and inscribee was Sylvanus Griswold Morley who was somehow involved with the book (as noted in OCLC) Morley was an American archaeologist, epigrapher, and Mayanist scholar who made significant contributions toward the study of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization in the early twentieth century. He was also a spy in Mexico during WWI.
