Cat.No: 115261 Angry man's tale. Peter de Polnay.

Angry man's tale

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1939. Hardcover. 355p., first edition openweave cloth boards decorated in blue and red, in dj, tinted top edge, an elaborate Knopf production. Quite sound, bright and largely clean copy with browned endpapers, mild foxing to cloth, dj soiled, dimmed, has a quarter-inch chip in the head. Novel set in Majorca before the Spanish Civil War.

The rear flap of the dj notes that "this is the first time that Polaroid has been employed to furnish an all-over decorative design for a book jacket," reproducing a Charles S. Foster Kodachrome photograph by using polaroid techniques, an abstract, we hope it doesn't catch on.
