Kroger, William S., M.D., and William D. Fezler

Hypnosis and behavior modification: imagery conditioning

J. B. Lippincott Company, Philadelphia. 1976, xxv, 426p., first edition green cloth boards in dj; one small corner is chewed, as by dog, otherwise clean and sound within, the dust jacket is quite edgeworn and soiled. This copy is inscribed by Kroger (boilerplate "warm regards") and signed in full, with "MD" tacked on. Sample text : "The hypnotic induction to be described on pages 30, 31, and 32 consists of a sequential series of double-bind suggestions given in such a manner that a positive response to a prior suggestion conditions the subject to react with hyper-suggestibility to the next suggestion so that relaxation results." Is dis guy sneaky --or what? FLASHBACK : Freddie Prinze's mom calls her son's secretary, worried about him, just before Freddie shoots himself. The secretary is reassuring : "'But you don't have to worry about him. Dr. Kroger is with him.' Dr. William S. Kroger was Freddie's hypnotherapist. Actually, only Dusty was with Freddie when I called Carol, as Dr. Kroger had already left Freddie's apartment before Dusty's arrival. So why Carol told me the doctor was still there, I don't know"-- [uh.. hypnotic suggestion?] --this anecdote from googling "Prinze" and getting "As Told by His Mother : Mrs. Maria Pruetzel".. Prinze was a charismatic guy whose TV contract had just been renewed and he had an unhealthy interest in the Kennedy assassination. Coulda been Bad Mass Media Infection. // Kroger is reputed also to have been the second man on the team that programmed Candy Jones. For more on Kroger, in connection with Jones and also Sirhan Sirhan, see Philip Melanson's "The Robert F. Kennedy Assassination," pages 208-215. Melanson was researching William Bryan and interviewed Bryan's colleague Kroger. Kroger appears in Melanson's text as "Jonathan Reisner"
