Andrews, Lewis M. and Marvin Karlins

Requiem for democracy? an inquiry into the limits of behavioral control

Holt, Rinehart and Winston, New York. 1971, vii, 148p., first edition blue cloth boards with white cloth spine, a pretty book in an undistinguished dj. Jacket besides aesthetical problems, is slightly edgeworn with a couple of short creased closed tears BUT is now in an archival-grade brodart to size. Appends a good reading list, but no index, so one cannot at a glance know what they make of their references. Requiem is cluttered with academic notions, Andrews at writing a doctoral candidate in behavioral psych at Stanford, Karlins a psych prof at CUNY; they are wannabe philosophers, and their specialized knowledge of behavior control is not well expressed,
