Houghton Mifflin, Boston. 1995, 284p., signed by Leavitt, first printing of the revised edition, dj. A later version of the novel, on two gay Englishmen in the 1930s, one of whom joins the fight against Franco. The novel was suppressed under threat of a lawsuit by Stephen Spender, who claimed that Leavitt plagarized from his autobiography; the author removed and changed certain passages, then reissued the novel.
