Terror in Tennessee: the truth about the Columbia outrages

The National Committee for Justice in Columbia, Tennessee, New York. [1946], 12p.pamphlet illustrated with seven vignette photographs; article by the African American cartoonist, with an owner's comment "very exaggerated" penciled on cover with a line through title. Light pencil underlines in first several pages. On the race riot perpetrated by the Columbia police, aimed at returning black veterans. Harrington was one of the outstanding illustrators on the American left. His cartoons appeared for many years in DAILY WORKER and in numerous black papers before he became a central figure in Paris' expatriate community (Chester Himes describes Harrington's exploits in great detail in THE QUALITY OF HURT)
