Case & Co., Hartford, CT. 1868, xx, 608p., two maps (one folding) with blue spot-color, 21 wood-engraved b&w plates as called for, hardbound first American edition in 9x6 inch pebbled cloth boards gilt-titled with cover-panelling in blind. A good to very good copy; maps are slightly spotted otherwise perfect, all blanks present, entire textblock is sound (threads show in some gutters but are not weak) and unmarked. Edges of casing show some card at corner-tips and both rims have tiny tears with minute fraying. Gilt is bright, while the maroon cloth is rubbed and mildly "handled". Matte-brown endsheets are uncompromised and clean. Find one old ownership fiche on a blank.
