The religious souvenir for MDCCCXL

Scofield & Voorhies, New York. 1839, 288p., 8 "embellishments" (tissue-guarded steel-engraved portraits &c, including frontispiece "Hon. Stephen Van Rensselaer" with his signature in facsimile). Two title pages, plain printed and vignette-decorated. Black morocco boards, 6.75 x 4.5 inches, a.e.g., boards and spine panel elaborately pressed and panelled in blind, spine titled gilt. Joints have split (hinges still holding) and the spine has begun to tear and has small chips. Scattered light foxing within, one or two tissue guards have torn away. Several of the landscapes are not quite Bartlett, but competent, rural, and American. For sentiment, I refer the reader to "The Blind Pastor" and "The Ruined Family," these deliver. Also noteworthy, "Teaching the Scriptures," wherein the teacher has remarkably 3-D breasts (bring back steel engraving!)
