Documents the Poor People's Campaign, an action targetting federal agencies and Congress regarding US poverty that crossed racial lines. Martin Luther King, Jr. called for the action in December 1967 the and Southern Christian Leadership Conference coordinated it. A multiracial movement toward Washington DC began on May 12, 1968 and constructed Resurrection City two weeks later. The shanty town was demolished by police after a month, many at Resurrection City said that housing there was better than where they lived.
