Tivoli Theatre, San Francisco. 1948, 8p. playbill for the d'Usseau/Gow play, wraps, with mimeographed ticket ordering form for opening night laid in. Two European American playwrights created a powerful drama, involving the return of a Black war hero to his southern home town, to produce the "most successful play about Negroes by white authors" during the 1940s, running for nearly a year on Broadway (Doris Abramson, Negro Playwrights in the American Theatre, 1925-1959, p. 95)
