Alyson Publications, Boston. 1987, 284p. + new introduction by Hubert Kennedy, very good in pictorial wraps. First Alyson edition, reprinting the 1933 edition, which is Young 2639 Possibly the first novel published in America to show homosexuals in a positive light. Brown was born in Otsego, MI and bummed around France and the US. His first poem was published in The Dial in 1926. He ended up establishing a puppet theatre in Los Angeles where such notables as Elsa Lanchester performed. He was also a songwriter (Bette Midler performed one of his songs at an AIDS benefit)
