Yanish, Nat

Pursuit and survival; a left immigrant in America.

Apex Publishing Co., San Francisco. 1981, 109p., illustrated with photos, index, very good first edition trade paperback original in red wraps. Yanish lived in California and was a Jewish activist in the Communist Party. He joined in Oakland in 1936 and persuaded his new comrades to open a storefront on East 14th despite fears that they "would be picked off like ducks." In his case it took a decade; in 1946 the DoJ declared him "a deportable alien"
