Rupert Hart-Davis, London. 1960, 191p., personal inscription "To Mother with love, Donald, 10 April '60" with negative of a photo of Windham and his mother on a dock laid-in, slightly-cocked otherwise very good first UK edition in green boards with silver titles, unclipped dj with some edgewear and tiny chips at heel of spine and corners. Young 4201 Author's second novel. Windham was a Georgia author (born and raised in Atlanta) who moved to NYC with his lover in 1939. He became friends with Auden, Capote and Tennessee Williams.
