James (as J.R. Johnson), Dwight MacDonald, Alber Glotzer (as Albert Gates), Irving Howe, Frank Demby, Leon Trotsky, James Burnham, Ernest Rice McKinney (as David Coolidge), and others. Started the period as the theoritical journal of the SWP, but when they split over the class nature of the Soviet Union, Max Shachtman's side of the spit took over the journal.
