Quicksilver Times, Inc., Washington, D.C.. 1970, 24p., 11.5 x 17 in., tabloid, folded, multicolored cover leaf and centerfold, newsprint lightly browned with some smudged presswork within, mild edgewear and tiny tears, much exterior dust-soil and small stain; the printed mailing address affects cover illustration (hippie playing frisbee). A good copy. Multicolor back cover announces a benefit featuring John Sebastian and Crank, all seats $2.50. The color center doublefold is a genuinely stunning poster 22x17 inches, Huey Newton in quarter-profile (b&w) against a sunrise field of yellow, red and purple and the quote "The will of the People is greater than the Man's technology" spread out in white. The portrait-block is slightly flecked with white, probably presswork flaws, the intersection of spine and transverse folds is a raised crimp without any damage. Near-fine exemplar of the poster. The capitol's underground paper. Articles start with "The continuing story of liberated Georgetown" [officers and plainclothesmen meet resistance, 6 photos]; "Suit filed against local pigs;" "Tasty takes to the streets" [underground comix ruled legal]; "GI coffeehouse to open here" [named the DMZ]; "[Washington] Free clinic explodes" [from grateful use, not bombs]; "Panther trial continues / New Haven 9"; "Festivals" [are becoming commercialized]; "Kansas overkill" [Rick Dowdell]; "Murdered!" [Carl Hampton in Houston]; "Los Siete de la Raza" [San Francisco]; "D.C. whites fight crime bill"; "Nixon forks up" [..Richard Shithouse NIxon, known throughout the world as the President of the United States.. what follows is a brief burlesque involving RMN and Charlie Manson ]. And not least (well, maybe least) is a situationist-type overdubbing of a Charles Atlas ad, here Charles Acid advising us to Smash The State
