Ediciones Lucha de la CNOC [Confederación Nacional Obrera de Cuba], La Habana. 1932, 56p., text in Spanish, evenly toned pages, small repaired chip on title page and other discreet marginal repairs with nearly invisible document tape, otherwise a very good first edition in original pictorial wraps, which have been professionally rebound in 8x5 inch red openweave cloth boards and black leather spine label lettered gilt, blue endpapers; handsome work, has one small very faint stain to cover else immaculate. Cuban export stamp inside the original back cover. "Defensa" was a speech read at the Lyceum Lawn and Tennis Club in 1932, inspired by an essay by the feminist erotic poet Juana del Ibarbourou of Uruguay, "Feminismo y Feminidad." The commentaries comprising the second half of the book discuss Rosa Luxemburg and Larisa Reissner, the Bolshevick journalist and diplomat who was once close to Trotsky. Torriente was a feminist Cuban lawyer, critic, journalist and educator. Only one holding located in OCLC as of 5/2016
