[1955], 250p., very good early reprint of the US edition in quarter-cloth, previous owner's name to front free endpaper, unclipped dj with faint ring stain to top right corner of front panel. Grier A*** Originally published under the Farrar, Straus and Young imprint. The company changed to Farrar, Straus and Cudahy in 1955, thus a reprint. Also reference to her later novel "The Red Room" on rear cover. Mallet was 20 years old when she published her first novel, a story of the sexual awakening of a teenage girl at the hands of her father's mistress
