Florida's obligation to the Seminole Indians, a plea for justice

Indian Rights Association, Philadelphia. 1917, 8p., wraps,; two horizontal creases from having been folded for mailing; paper toned, neatly ex-library with accession numbers penned in upper left corner. No. 111, second series. The Indian Rights Association was an early organization former to defend the rights of Native Americans. Some aspects of its program have come to be seen as paternalistic in retrospect. This leaflet outlines the mistreatment of the Seminoles and calls for a hunting preserve of at least one thousand acres to be set aside for them in the Everglades. Also expresses hope that they may be "civilized, Christianized, and made into worthy citizens."
