the School, London. [193-], Four-panel brochure, 8x5 inches, with a black and white group photo of school attendees; light handling wear. Introduction to the school and club, which also served as a gathering place for Chinese sailors when in London. "We aim to diffuse useful information about China to members of the Institution, who are children of Anglo-Chinese parentage, and to all Chinese residing in the East End; there are several hundreds of them. We teach the members the Chinese language. Of course, our fundamental purpose is to help make these children better men and better women, so that they may in their lives reflect credit upon the two countries which give them their dual inheritance." Boys were taught gymnastics and boxing; girls learned needlework and cookery.
