Doubleday, Garden City. 1948, xx, 292p., introduction, private library stamp otherwise a very good first edition stated in black cloth boards, gilt, and edgeworn, unclipped dj. Early appearance by Capote who won first prize this year with his story "Shut a Final Door." His only other appearances in hardcover were "Miriam" in the 1946 O. Henry anthology and "Other Voices, Other Rooms" in 1947. Bradbury is represented by "Powerhouse" and Stegner by "Behind the Glass Mountain."
