Platts, John

The Baitál-Pachísí; or the Twenty-five Tales of a Sprite. Translated from the Hindi text of Dr. Duncan Forbes by John Platts

W. H. Allen & Co., London. 1871, viii, 181 p., hardbound, cloth boards titled gilt and decorated in blind; edgeworn with some fraying and small losses at the tail of the spine, which is a little sunned; both hinges are cracked, the rear hinge not too badly, the front hinge damaged by "repairs" that have left the free endsheet partly adhered to the pastedown and, less severely, have adhered titlepage to back of the "free" sheet. Ownership signature of Edith Ackley dated 1884 across the top of the title page, otherwise no markings. An attractive book even with the flaws.
