Peace Heroes Memorial Society [two booklets introducing the pacifist group]

the Society, Cincinnati. n.d., Two slender staplebound booklets, four pages each, with variant text; very good. Back cover is an application. Secretary Abraham Cronbach is the contact listed on the application form; the pacifist rabbi was one of the founders of the Society. Notes that since Memorial Day 1923, the Society has led ecumenical exercises in local cemetaries to honor those who died in the service of peace, including firefighters, women who died in childbirth, etc. States that the ceremonies always include at least one Catholic, Protestant and Jew, at least one woman, and a representative of the "colored races." Undated, but the ceremonies ceased with American entry into World War II. Cronbach later gave a eulogy at the Rosenberg's funeral in 1953.
