Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston. 1967, xviii, 446p., period and contemporary photoillustration (12p.; his wives, the country), doublespread endpaper maps, hardbound first edition (so stated) in buff cloth boards printed black and gilt, in dust jacket. No ownership or any other markings. A very good copy with these flaws: faint small exterior dampstain to lower corners of both boards, not affecting other parts of the volume; tiny pressure dings to top margins of casing; the un-price-clipped but edgeworn jacket is silverfished randomly with a dozen minute perforations, most affecting the back-panel graphic of Mal-lit-tay-lay, one of the Senoras Garcia. Dj now enclosed in an archival-grade brodart to size. Garcia grew up along the Rio Grande, then wound up as an army packer in Montana, and wound up living among - and marrying into - the Nez Perce
