Laws, R. Don

"Hot Stuph" or The Yellow Jacket Boiled Down

The Yellow Jacket Press, Moravian Falls NC. 1909, 397p., hardbound 8.5x5.5 inch red cloth boards decorated in black and with a small inset color embellishment (the "yellow jacket" insect). A double frontispiece follows title page, shows author portrait opposite a tumbledown windowless outbuilding Laws claims was his childhood home. Find one in-text illustration, a racist version of "The Modern Siamese Twins". An ex library copy with evident mishandling, fraying and soil, a shaky faded copy. On the bright side, the institutional holder (per rubber-stampings) was "Walt Disney Studio," i.e. from the Disney reference and idea-pool. Note a printed Kipling-era swastika on title page
