Missing volumes II & III. The central character was based on Price's best friend and lover Fred Middleton. SHould be a Young title but is not. Lucien Price aka Seymour Deming was a Kent, Ohio writer who graduated with honors from Harvard University in 1907. While there he lived an undisguised if not out gay life and several of his early books relate the love affair he had there with a fellow Harvard student. Several chapters of Douglass Shand-Tucci's book "The Crimson Letter: Harvard, Homosexuality, and the Shaping of American Culture" are devoted to Price. He was also a socialist, inspired by the Lawrence textile strike of 1912 which he wrote an editorial in support of.
