Private Theodore Ewert's Diary Of The Black Hills Expedition of 1874 Edited by John M. Carroll, Dr. Lawrence A. Frost

CRI [Consultant Resources Incorporated], Piscataway NJ. 1976, xiv, 131p., illustrations from period maps and a photoportrait frontispiece, errata slip (concerning pictures and the Fred Snow narrative, promised in-text but absent), first edition 10x7 inch maroon cloth boards gilt-titled, in dust jacket. Two prefatory leaves and pp.14-15 bear minuscule faint touches of dust-soil at top margin, casing and text are entirely sound and otherwise clean, while the jacket, with its fine wraparound pencil sketch of soldiers playing baseball, has a pale oilstain to spine panel and is slightly edgeworn; a very good copy. Find much on Native Americans, George Custer, mention of gold and gold mining, one page on a baseball game in the wilderness.
