The University of North Carolina Press, Chapel Hill. 1930, [viii], 101p., first edition 10.5x7 inch black cloth boards gilt in plain printed buff dust jacket; cloth and gilt are bright and casing sound and square. The price-clipped jacket is mildly toned along margins and spine panel, has small chips at extremities and a half-inch by two inch creased torn loss midway along the top margin. A very good copy. University of North Carlina Social Study. The author presents original melodies "whose value lies in their presentation and preservation exactly as they are found and sung." - foreword. The author/collector's presentation reflects the paternalistic racism characteristic of the period
