Brady, Robert A.

The Planning of Production in an Industrial System [unpublished manuscript]

author, unpublished, Berkeley. May 1950, 292p., expertly typed and mimeo'd recto/verso, with, laid in, handwritten leaf which has the conclusion of the mimeo text which breaks off mid-sentence on p.292. Hardbound, standard leaves sandwiched between the untitled covers of a period punch-hole binder. Margins bear a few tics and comments in pencil. Three standard leaves are laid in: one leaf (both sides) being the supplied continuation written in ink, in Brady's holograph, and then in pencil two more leaves (4p.) that appear to be a table of contents. Tidy and legible throughout. From Brady's Preface: "This manuscript is a first-draft version of the first volume of a projected three-volume study of the theory and practice of economic planning. In its present form it has not been checked for numerous errors of a technical and semi-technical nature." This portion was finally issued as Organization, Automation, and Society in 1962; per a UC Berkeley website, it was indeed part of a trilogy, to be followed by volumes on Bureaucracy and Types of Planning, unfinished by reason of ill health.
