Fits Printing, San Francisco. [ca. 1975], 22.5x17.5 inch poster featuring a black and white photograph of Vietnamese children; horizontal fold crease (the poster was once folded to hide the slogan but display the photo of happy kids), upper portion slightly more toned; edgewear, closed edge tear at right. Issued in the context of Operation Babylift , which evacuated thousands of war orphans from South Vietnam before the fall of the Saigon government. Some critics claimed that many of the children were not actually orphans, but had been stolen away for propaganda purposes and to prevent them from growing up under a socialist government. In recent years a project called Operation Reunite has used DNA testing to seek relatives in Vietnam of former child adoptees.
