Townsend, Clarence Fonteneau

Rythmic fancies and fantastic rhymes; sentimental, solemn, humorous & ill humorous

The Blair-Murdock Co., San Francisco. 1915, 60p., frontis-portrait of Townsend, prologue, ownership signature and bookplate, first edition in wine cloth and gilt with light shelfwear and irregular sunning. Author Townsend has inscribed and signed his portrait, datelining 1917. The San Francisco lawyer/poet has not decided if he is to be Ambrose Bierce (who has a poem included here) or George Sterling. He is neither. Misogyny disguised as wry humor, anti-suffrage poetry, maudlin romance (sorry, that is redundant is it not?)
