Foote, Lucius Harwood

A Red-Letter Day and other poems.

A. Williams and Company, Boston. 1882, 113p., hardbound in 7.5x6.3 inch cloth boards decorated in red, black and gilt, t.e.g., with matte terra-cotta endsheet stock; a nice production. Somewhat edgeworn with handling soil, irregular darkening of spine panel and a touch of silverfishing; endsheets bear a bookplate and an old ownership legend, a good-only copy. The poet singeth nature, the Bay Area, the Sierras, gold rush, world history, sentimental philosophy, and concludes with a long celebration of Dom Perignon's discovery of champagne.
