Drechsel, Edwin

Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen 1857-1970 History - Fleet - Ship Mails; Volume One. Foreword: Arnold Kludas

Cordillara Publishing Company, Vancouver. 1994, xiv, 472p., profuse captioned b&w maritime photography, line maps and mail covers; 11.5x9 inch boards gilt in glossy color-repro dust jacket. Entirely clean and sound with faintest handling of jacket, a near-fine copy inscribed and signed opposite the title page by author Drechsel. First volume ends its share of the story with the First World War. Find in this volume "new insight into the 1912 sinking of the Titanic, including a never-published photo [see p.32] of the iceberg seen and reported by the Author's Father's ship, the George Washington, in the position where the Titanic hit an iceberg nearly twelve hours later." --a very spooky-looking, three-peaked spike.
