Oxford University Press, New York. 1988, Hardbound item: xxvi, 117p. + 124p. + original ads in facsimile, along with portrait and two Edward Gorey-like landscapes; dark blue 6.7x4.8 inch cloth boards gilt. Tiny tinge of paint to edge of one board, else entirely sound and clean, very good copy. Author Dr. Larison (a "pioneer in spelling reform") expounded his interviews with the subject (which may owe more to folklore than to strict biography) in an eccentric orthography which editor Lobdell terms his "singular phonetic alphabet." The facsimile text occupies pp.ll7 to end. The Schomburg Library of Nineteenth-century Black Women Writers.
