Boime, Albert

Art and the French Commune; Imagining Paris after War and Revolution. Second printing, with corrections and new material [subtitle from copyright page]

Princeton University Press, Princeton. 1996, xv, 234p., numerous b&w period reproductions of artworks and reportorial images, second corrected edition in 10x7.5 inch glossy wraps. Faintest edgewear, entirely sound and clean, a near-fine copy. The thesis, that Impressionism papered over the wounds, resembles cold war-era promotion, one century later, of abstract art in the US, which "demonstrated" that America was more progressive than the Soviet Union.
